Does the G75vw 180w Power Brick work on the G73's?

Does the G75vw 180w Power Brick work on the G73's?

Im currently cutting of some plastic on my G73sw-3DE...So I can fit the new GTX 680m I got...I was going to get a G75vw to put it in but ASUS said its technicaly impossible for the G75 to use standard MXM cards, it wont even recognize it...The G73's however while usus ASUS own version of MXM card will still recognize standard MXM cards but I will void warranty cause it means I have to modify the Chassis and little wok on the Heatsink.

dude , can you upload a screen shot with gtx 680 in g73sw , so it will be great proof for non believers ,
and dot waste time , cutting the g73sw heatsink , just buy an asus g73jh heatsink and cut the upper parts of it , thats it , install it and use and do sm\ome serious benchmarks , no one in the world though an hd 7970m in asus g73jh would score that much , now with gtx 680 in Sw , this is going to be an milestone.

But actually no one confirmed you that it is not MXM ?

There are lots of people that say that it is no MXM and another ton that says it is. We need a confirmation.

This is standard mxm , but the problem will be with bios support or you should make correct holders to hold the card in correct place due to there is no holes.

Ok now I see what ASUS means...the GPU card that comes on the G73 has the exact same height but with slight excess width on a Standard MXM card...the one on the G75 seems like the GPU card was flipped sideways so it seems that its shorter but wider than a standard MXM card...now I seewhy they say its impossible to upgrade the G75 with standard MXM card but it is possible on the G73 with slight mod...

Possible to make a MXM Type B fit in the G75 with a bit more modding than the G73 but possible.

Now this is true...but your pretty much using a self made heatsink and probably destroy the chassis...so probably not worth at that point...

That is why ASUS said impossible...while people with G73's already shown you can use standard MXM cards keeping the chassis and sligh mod with the same factory heatsink

That is true, but what choice do you have if you love you Asus notebook and really do not like Sagers or Alienwares... And probably if you succeed, the update would cost you $800/$1000, and given that I bought my G75 in BB for less than $1400, that leaves me with a notebook for a bit over $2000 and a 680m... Almost the price of an M17x with 7970m.

Nope just $500 for the GTX 680m...getting the heatsink fits right with minor cutting (but its still the original heatsink)...burt Im still filling down the plastic...ASUS saw this so I guess they figured out that the flipping the GPU on the G75 will peevent any further mod

Yes, it seems that the G73 was their evidence that people wanted to upgrade and from there on they've changed the GPU shape and connection so as not to be able to upgrade. We all wander why they do that, if they just make it so you have to buy a new notebook it does not make much of a sense, they can begin to make standard MXM notebooks and sell upgrade kits as all other sellers do... That would just be incredible.

I heard that they kind of like to do their custom PCBs and all that sort of things but still, can make at least a special ASUS connection and sell upgrade kits.
