Does G74sx new Motherboard require branding?

As the title suggests, I am curious if the ASUS ROG G74SX requires new motherboards to be branded. Having worked on many HP desktops and laptops, they require the replacement MoBo's to be "branded", that is, to have the exact same identifying information from the old board put onto the new one.

I have just replaced my client's G74SX MoBo and after the splash screen, it goes to a black screen with a flashing cursor.

If I hold down DEL, it displays the BIOS and its settings.

If I hit the ESC as it boots, it gives me the option to boot from either hard drive. Either way, black screen with flashing cursor. I would think at the very least I'd get a "Failure to find Boot Disk" message.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Storage misconfigured? I think I remember that a BIOS setting of GPT for an MBR disk gave the flashing cursor, or maybe the other way around. Not sure if the G74 has that option.
