displayport cable for G75VW

i went to Fry's to get a mini-displayport to displayport cable to try on a new dell monitor. all they had were Monster brand for like 90.00usd for 8ft!

i'm new to the displayport generation so this blew me mind, the cost that is.

what displayport cable brand are G75 users utilizing with a lower cost and good function?

What kind of the adapter Cable? active adapter or passive adapter?
I think you must be use the active adapter...

An active adapter can convert a signal from one connector to another. The Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI and Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapters are active adapters. A passive adapter acts as a pass-through from one connector type to another and does not convert a signal. The Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter is an example of a passive adapter.
