Crashes after driver update

Hi all, new guy here and an owner of an Asus G70S. Had a problem so I thought best place to come was here.

Asus G70S Laptop
T9400 Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
2 x 8700M GT w/ SLI
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Recently Nvidia issues the 295.73 update so I went ahead and updated it like normal. Then while playing games, the driver began crashing saying "kernel mode has crashed and recovered" etc etc. Uninstalled and did a clean install, still the same problem, uninstalled and went back to the previous driver, still the same problem, uninstalled and went back to the most recent beta drivers, still the same problem.

Also Direct X11 decided to crash aswell saying "Direct X has encountered an unrecoverable error".

Another error I get is when I go into the Nvidia control panel and turn SLI on and restart as normal, a message appears in the start menu bar saying "SLI connector missing".

Games I play included the call of duty series, assassin's creed series, and hawx. They all ran fine with the previous update to an acceptable level of quality aswell.

I get regular blue screens using driver 295.73 in ArmA 2. Others suggested to revert back to previous driver which is what I'm about to do. Give it a try, see if it works for you.

I dont get the blue screens, the game just crashes and i end up straight at the desktop. I'll try once again with the older drivers. Thanks

I suspect uninstalled NVIDIA
driver remnants may be causing problems on your system.

1) Can you use Windows System Restore to restore your system to the time of your last stable NVIDIA driver?

2) If that fails, try booting into Safe Mode, then uninstalling your current NVIDIA driver from Control Panel. Then use Driver Sweeper to check for any uninstalled NVIDIA driver remnants. You might also try CCleaner to clean up the registry. Then ihstall the last stable NVIDIA driver used on your system from within Safe Mode.

you may aswell consider me a newbie cuz i've never heard of driver sweeper or CCleaner, but i think they do what they say on the tin. Have you got a link to driver cleaner because i keep ending up at 3rd party softwares. Thanks

Ok that seems to have fixed things if i DONT TURN SLI ON

however when i do that, the nvidia kernel driver crashes as normal....no other error messages
