Constant problems with ASUS G73JH

This gaming laptop has been running smooth for 3-4months before i encountered several problems.
At first it was overheating as hell and turned itself off and i had to send it to reparation. Then when i recieved it it worked fine for some weeks, then i got the GSOD (Grey Screen of Death) and i fixed this problem by myself. AND THEN! the screen just stopped working and one of the back fans stopped working, and now ive sent it to reparation for the second time and i think i will be
sending it more in the future.....

What the hell is so wrong with this model or am i having extremly bad luck? I mean come'on!!! I bought this laptop 1-2 years ago for about 15000NOK (Norwegian kroners) / 2580 USD.
Do any of you have this laptop and had this problems?

I have called ASUS Support and they tell me that i have to send it to reparation 4 times before they can suggest other alternatives..... wtf....... am i supposed to wait for the ****ty laptop to get destroyed two times more before somethings happend?

Ive searching around the internet and i see alot of people having problems with this model and many people are frustrated.....andthey dont sell it in Norway anymore..... whats this supposed to mean, that it was broken when they made it?

(Sorry for my english)

Hi there

This is the notebook with the ATI graphic card?

I know that there is a VBIOS (if this is the correct word for the graphic cards) update for the ATI card, but since you said you fixed it yourself I assume that you have done this ?

When it comes to the fans stop working and overheat issues, then you should buy compressed air, blow it into the exhaust and you will see a lot of dust coming out. (this is a main reason for many notebooks being throwed out because they "don't work" until they clean the fans)

All notebooks comes in a "limited edition" this is because after they have produced "x-numbers" of the notebook they will not earn any thing more from it (if they produce more then x-numbers of these notebooks).
And then they upgrade the notebook so they can sell more and get a good profit.

When it comes to update drivers and such, are you the one who does this or just let it go ? 😛
I know that the atheros wifi card makes a lot of trouble on these notebooks (and if you change it, it would be the best) so it's important that you keep that up to date (or a stable version)

Intel chipset needs to be updated to get better performance.
ATI drivers.
Windows Update.

Also you could install CCleaner and run the register check to clean your system from old register files from things you have deleted or something like that.

EDIT:
If you haven't done the vBIOS update take a look at this thread http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?519-G73Jh-GSOD-Vbios-Update

I looked into that vBIOS update and ill look more into it when i get the laptop back and thanks for taking time. And yes i update my drivers. Compressed air is also a option that i will try, have thought about it but didnt realise that a large amount of dust had enough time to settle in the fans since its been for reparation 2 times and i think they cleaned the fans?

The ''limited edition'' realy explained alot to me, thanks! I guess i just have to live with this G73JH.... not satisfied but what is
there to do than wait and send it back again for the fourth time 😛

Hmm.... if you haven't done the vBIOS update you could ask the repair center to do it for you, unless it already have been done.

About the fans.... Sometimes it's easy to forget to do a "good job" with fixing the issues on a notebook, they source the issue and fixes it. And then send it back without checking the system and see if it works as it should (this is what I think, I could be very wrong about this)

I'm glad that some of this info could help you out hehe 🙂
