Cleaning outside and inside of the G751-JT

Since we've now had our laptops for quite some time, we're all probably seeing some grease buildup, dust, etc, between the keys on the keyboard. Has anyone come up with a nice was to make this laptop look 'like-new'? I've been using compressed air, and occassionally a damp rag, but I want to make sure I don't matte certain sections of the computer. Any advice?

Isopropyl alcohol and microfibre cloth will do the job.

The alcohol doesn't dry out the rubber-like material too much?

Long term use of alcohol will dry out and make the rubber coating peel (yes i have seen it on 3 g751s already) not to mention it leeches plasticizers out of the plastic which can lead to cracking and brittleness. Think car dash in the sun. Just use Distilled water and a microfiber cloth.

That is interesting, I did not know that. Then again I do not believe I have any rubber like material on my G750JZ.

I am dreading the day I have to open mine up to clean the fans, heatsinks and repaste. It looks like so much work.

That's because it is. My G750JZ takes 3h to be cleaned completely and have it's thermal compounds reapplied.

20 mins tops you need a screwdriver and a credit card for prying up the keyboard. You dont need to disconnect anything under the keyboard just lift it enough to blow and wipe the fans.

Hmm I will try that. Are you sure you can lift it up enough to give them a good enough clean? Eventually I'll have to open it all up to repaste but I wouldn't mind doing smaller cleans every now and then if its possible.
