Changing G74 Specs...

OK, I think I know the answer to this, but has anyone noticed that the specs on the G74SX are quite variable as quoted by ASUS? For example, the A1 now has an 18.4 inch screen (http://www.asusrog.com/Spec/NB_spec.html), and can max out at 16 GB of RAM; see also http://ca.asus.com/en/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerhouse/G74SX/#specifications

But this page (http://promos.asus.com/us/g74/index.htm) shows the G74 has a 17.3" screen and maxes out at 12GB RAM???

What gives? Different motherboards in the same models? Is there a new large screen coming with the G74s now?

Or is ASUS just sloppy with their specs?

I think they're just sloppy with their specs. (Remember, this is a company that never even bothers to update their product pages.) It wouldn't surprise me if somebody in marketing said...."Hey, what if we measure across the whole lid, not just the display. It'd souund so much bigger! Yippee!!" ....and then he got a promotion.

There are different motherboard configurations, but those are only for different video set-ups, as far as I can tell.

On the RAM thing I think they can both be right. They DO max out at 16GB, but come with up to 12 GB installed.

On the screens, I think its a typo otherwise it would be a G84.

Its become typical of asus to make mistakes, so why not?

Also, that "Hail to the King" is getting really old. It also makes me think of Bruce Campbell in "Evil Dead II"
Read the User's Manual for more info. 😄
