Hi all,

I am trying to install a 120 gb intel ssd on my new G74 but the laptop wont detect the ssd when trying to install windows. I tried to change to ide and ahci in the bios but still nothing. I can see the sdd in the bios but it doesnt show up when installing windows. I removed the ssd and tried it on my desktop and it works fine. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using the ribbon-cable port, or the one on the left side? Try and use the non-ribbon port for the SSD if you are not doing so.

Hi Chastity

I don't have the laptop, wish I did.

Curious about the two ports though, what is the difference between the two ports????

Thanks

totally had a similar problem once. try this.

boot into bios, go to the last screen and select "set user default".
hit save, reboot
enter into the bios again, do the same thing, go to the last page, select "set user default", save reboot.

on my G51 i had the same problem when trying to install a second hard drive. it would show up in bios, then not be present in the OS, go back to the bios and it'd be gone. heard it was just a bug in the bios. hope this helps.

do not set it to ide mode, leave it in ahci.

I CAN NOT SETUP BOTH DRIVES .....SYSTEM GIVE ME BSOD DURING BOOT ...IF I REMOVE SECOND DRIVE I HAVE NORMAL BOOT AND ITS WORK FINE EVERYTHING ....I DONT KNOW WHAT I NEED TO SETUP IN BIOS ....AHCI OR IDE MODE? IS THAT MATTER?
