Can't notice the difference between G-Sync on and off.

I recently purchased a G751JY-WH71.When I try to run games I cannot notice the difference between G-sync on and off .
When the fps drops from 60 fps to 30 fps it is noticeable, and it is not smooth both ways, with or without G-sync, and there is a fair bit of input lag at (30-45 fps) even with G-sync on.

Is it supposed to work like this?

Are you playing full screen? If not, did you tell g-sync to work in windowed mode? Some games do NOT work with g-sync, they are disabled by the Nvidia control panel due to compatability issues. G-sync should feel the same as not using vsync as long as the FPS is above 30.

G-sync prevents tearing in comparison to Vsync=off
G-sync prevents lagging (=occasional frame drops) in comparison to Vsync=on.
So it solves both issues.

Input lag - I have never heard that it might be related to G-sync.

G-sync - if you can't spot the difference then I must assume that you actually have it NOT configured/set/used properly?

To many unanswered questions to help you...

You have G-sync sticker at the laptop? What version of driver are you using or the official one?. Or maybe the old one but hacked by Gamenab G-sync tools?
You are talking about G-sync at laptops display or external monitor? Playing in fullscreen or in windows borderless mode?

I am running all my games full screen. But I have set gsync to work in both full screen and windowed mode.

Isn't G-sync marketed to reduce input lag at low fps (Between 30-40 fps) and making the game smoother?, if that so, then this is not what I have experienced, 30 fps still feels like a slideshow and the mouse is not as responsive as 60 fps. As for tearings I didn't notice them.

I used the preinstalled driver. 353.something and currently using 361.43. No difference between both.

I am running full screen, also using laptops monitor, not external one.

G-Sync simply improves the interface between the GPU and the monitor by synchronizing the refresh rate of the monitor to the output FPS of the GPU (up to the maximum refresh rate of the monitor) making sure that there is no lag between the time the frame is rendered by GPU and when it is displayed by the monitor. I has precisely nothing to do with how fast the frames are rendered, that is 100% a function of the GPU. If the GPU drops to 10FPS you will get 10FPS on the display. What G-Sync would do in that case is lower the refresh frequency of the display to 10hz to match the 10FPS instead of leaving it at full refresh rate which prevents tearing which is caused when the display is attempting to show more than one frame at a time.

You can use it on an external monitor, so long as the external monitor has a G-Sync module.

If you are not getting tearing then its working.

Unlike V-Sync it has no affect on input lag.
