Can you upgrade the CPU and GPU in your ROG Notebook? That's a good question and one that will be answered below. You will also find which models can be upgraded and what their max supported upgrade will be for both CPU/GPU. Please note that options for the GPU "Experimental" upgrades have been proven to work using certain models only. It's highly recommended that you have access to another PC and have an SPI programmer on hand in the event you brick your system when attempting to perform this kind of GPU upgrade. I'd like more performance but I want to keep my current notebook. What's the best available upgrade for my CPU and GPU?
This completely depends on the model of your notebook and its supported HW like a CPU socket (if available) and MXM slot (if available).

What do I need to know prior to upgrading the CPU/GPU?
That it requires proper tools and a full notebook disassembly in order to replace either one. This means removing many screws, flex cables and various connectors to get access to the motherboard to do so; It would also be best to apply new thermal compound as the disassembly is rather time consuming with ROG Notebooks in comparison to other manufacturer notebooks.

Is the CPU/GPU upgrade just a drop-in replacement or does it involve modifications?

Sounds like your CPU is throttling what temp is it running at when you record this very low CPU speed? otherwise, all you have to go on is Dreamoncic Post. Dreamonic has closed his own website and has not been seen in this forum in over a year now.

NO CPU and GPU are soldered on to your motherboard.

as a customer, we can't simply upgrade the CPU or gpu from our side.
We need special toools to reembededd CPU on motherboard.
Also we need support bios Microcode to detect all hardware
