Can I connect my g55wv to a 5ghz network?

can anybody tell me how to connect to a 5ghz network? I can even see the network name in the list, can anybody help pls.

Pitcher, I am using atheros now, can I upgrade it to killer 1202? If I upgrade it myself will affect the warranty?

The quick answer, No. The (Qualcomm/Atheros) wireless adapter in the G55 is 802.11 b/g/n and can only work with a 2.4Hz router. Reference the following link for details on the AR9485WB-EG adapter in the G55VW: http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/networking/brand.php?brand=3&product=105

In order to access your 5ghz router, you will need to upgrade your G55's internal adapter. There are many threads on this issue.

Sorry for the delayed response. You can upgrade the adapter yourself, but it requires a complete disassembling of your laptop; which would void your warranty.

I was disappointed it only supported 2.5 GHz too because I have a RT N66U router but I didn't want to void the warranty so what I did was buy a USB network adapter which at least for now is a problem solved.



They are relatively inexpensive and about the size of a memory stick.
If you do want to upgrade it then the Intel Advanced-N 6235 is a great choice.

You will void the warranty if you replace it yourself.

It's totally opened, I think it voids warranty...
