Broadcom WLAN dropping connection

Hi,

I have G750JS with Broadcom 802.11ac WLAN adapter with the latest driver (V6.30.223.181). The internet connection is dropped from time to time (maybe a few times a day if surfing the net). However, the connection is restored if I run the diagnostics tool (e.g. IE suggests diagnostics tool if it can't open the web page). The diagnostics tool finds and fixes the problem: The default gateway is not available.

Is anyone else suffering from this? The Asus support claims I'm the only one having this problem and therefore they think it's not a driver problem (but hardware defect) and therefore Broadcom don't get reports of any driver problems.

So, if you have similar problem with the latest driver (V6.30.223.181) please respond so that we might get a better driver (for Win 8.1) someday. The latest driver dates back to last September, so it' not a brand new.

kimke, a trick I use to get the latest drivers for things like wireless cards, is to find an even newer Asus product using the same wireless chipset, and download the newer driver from their more up to date download pages 🙂

It looks like the new Asus Z87-DELUXE/DUAL has the same broadcom 802.11ac chipset, at least it has a newer version of the similar driver version for Windows 8.1, there is even a Windows 7 version available from 4/10/14

Wi-Fi Driver V6.31.223.1 for Windows 8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)
Wi-Fi Driver V6.33.223.1 for Windows 8.1 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)

Unfortunately it comes as a blob with all OS versions together, rather large at 512MB. Stranger yet, there are 2 of the same versions listed, with slightly different sizes... gotta love it.

Let us know which blob has a good Windows 8.1 V6.33.223.1 🙂

Happened to me too on G750JS. But i couldn't even install the 181 driver (the installer didn't work). I had to go with 134 or 143 or something

I also had problems with the installer, but there was a command line parameter to run the installer to extract the installer files into a folder (Can't remember the parameter, try to run the installer from command line with -? etc). Then, from the extracted folder I was able to run the setup.

Guys, I use 7-zip to unpack, and install from the resulting folder.
