BRAND NEW G74-SX wont turn on

Hi

I just bought a new G74SX. When I first booted up my system everything was working perfectly but around 30 mins after I started using it the laptop just shut down. When I tried to turn it on again, the lights come on for about 1 second (or less) and the laptop shuts down again.

I have tried:

-Turning power on with charger and battery both plugged in.
-Removing both charger and battery whilst holding power button for 30 secs, then putting my charger in, then turning laptop on.

Has anyone else had this problem that can provide me with a solution? This machine literally came in the post 2 hours ago.

Sounds like something died. I wouldn't even bother trying to figure it out. The fact that it shut down and won't turn on says there's something seriously wrong. Was the box it came in all beat up? Did you hear noises (it's a very quiet notebook)? It may have been damaged in shipping.

You'll probably get faster service if you contact the retailer and arrange for an exchange. Otherwise you could arrange for an RMA/repair from Asus

Contacted my retailer, turns out one of my RAM sticks was faulty. Gonna be living on 4gb ram for a while until i get a new one.

Sure, the BIOS detects a hardware failure and doesn't POST. Not unusual.

I just thought there would be a beep code or something for that.
