Booting Problem

I left my G750JX on the other night while off the AC power. The laptop was on a bare glass surface just sitting there idle the whole night. This happened because I fell asleep, normally I'd just turn it off when I'm done using it. When I awoke the next day I realized the battery was dead. I didn't think much of it.

When I got home from work, I attached the laptop to AC power and attempted to boot the laptop. I could hear a fan turn on and the cd-rom spins up for a few seconds but then it just sits there and does nothing. The power LED is active along with the battery LED and caps lock but the screen will not power on nor will any of the keys such as caps lock light on when I press the button.

I hooked the laptop up to an external display over HDMI and again, the external display shows nothing when I power the laptop on.

I removed the battery and held down the power button for 45 seconds (multiple times!) and then reconnected the battery and attempted to power the unit back on to no avail.

I've seen problems like this before and they usually were solved by doing something as simple as removing the ram and reconnecting it. However, there is obviously no guarantee that this will fix it and the ram in this laptop is under the keyboard which would require some disassembley which would probably result in a voided warranty? I have only owned this laptop of a little over one month so I'm not really willing to take it apart unless I was certain.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this issue and managed to fix it? I have already opened a support case with ASUS and they have been very unresponsive to my problem. I have this aching suspicion that the laptop could be stuck in a sleep state with no way to get out of it, but then again I could also just be an idiot. 🙂

I have the exact identical issue with my G53SX. Did you happen to find any quick fix?

It sounds like board failure. It may even be the video card; since there is no other display adapter (no switchable graphics), it would make sense then that the system receives power but displays no picture, and therefore is probably not POSTing.
