G751JT Laptop Battery/ Battery Pack Questions

Recently I realized that my battery pack has shorted cell. Lets say if I remove the battery from my laptop, will I be able to run my laptop only by plugging in? Will it cause issues in the long run?I cannot afford to replace a new pack atm.
