Fixed G53JW Power port??

I was unlucky enough to have a G53JW-3DE which went out of warranty. Its power pin broke off, and I had to solder a 2.5mm one after a very tedious process....Is there a way to prevent this from happening again? Should I just get a 90-degree converter...
