I think some of the USB ports are powered when the laptop is off.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

The right side front USB port is used by the Asus USB Charger Plus, you can make use of this option to charge items like phones, and iPods.
The port is always on if you set in BIOS, in settings panel you also have the option to set to charge items while on battery power.
