ASUS ROG Shuttle Backpack : http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4366

I recently bough a g74sx because I'm going to college. I need a good backpack to carry this huge laptop along with a few books. I saw this backpack on the asus and it looks very good. The guy says that it fits a g74 but there is a few people said that their g73 didn't fit in the laptop case.

I'm looking for comments and feedbacks regarding this backpack. There's absolutely no review anywhere.

Will it fit a g74sx?

Is there much room to put a few books?

Does it looks cheaply made or overall okay?

Hey, my G74Sx came with a ASUS ROG Branded Targus XL Backpack seen here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Republic-Gamers-Backpack-Rucksack-Notebooks/dp/B003TF9BA8 Overall I think its a good backpack, the laptop fits tight inside so it doesn't move around to much in the inner pocket, the outer pocket is able to hold a fair deal, so I would think it would be fine to hold a couple books, though may struggle to hold more than one hardback, but this depends on the size I guess. In my opinion it has a sturdy feel as with other Targus made cases. It manages to displace the weight of the G74Sx quite well and the front chest strap helps keep it secure, though I wouldn't recommend you to carry it for long periods of time, the G74Sx is no lightweight notebook. You could always try Samonsite's 17.3" case seen here http://laptopstuff.co.uk/p/Samsonite_Network_Laptop_Bag_17.3inch_Black.htm (if you can find it in your country) or maybe Alienware's own Orion Backpack and Messenger cases http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&category_id=7319&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anav&sor... and I know Pakuma http://pakuma.com/index.htm do excellent cases as well, but not sure if the G74Sx will fit inside their 17" Akara K3 Backpack or Choroka K1 Messenger Bags. Hope this helps, from my point of view I like my ROG Backpack does exactly what it's supposed too and matches the looks of the G74Sx perfectly.

I finally bought the Everki Beacon. It's in special @ ncix.com for 60$ instead of 110$!

Hello,

I'm interested in buying the Asus Shuttle Backpack (http://uk.asus.com/Peripherals_Accessories/Computer_Bag/ASUS_ROG_SHUTTLE_BACKPACK/#specifications) but everywhere I read it is said that it won’t fit the Asus G74SX which is one of two notebooks that I will buy in a few months, the other one is MSI GT780DX (is a bit longer but a lot less wide, and thinner at the thickest part). The problem is that the Shuttle backpack isn't sold in my Country (Slovenia) so i can't test fit it and I need the backpack now since I have a notebook and I really one a backpack since carrying a backpack for school stuff and a bag for the notebook is just too much to carry around. So my question to anyone owning a Shuttle backpack is, will it fit an Asus G74SX or MSI GT780DX? The dimensions are as follows…

Asus G74SX:
325mm x 420mm x 21mm(min) ~62mm(max) (WxDxH)

MSI GT780DX:
428mm x 288mm x 55mm(max) (WxDxH)

The Backpack:
343mm (L) x 216mm (W) x 546mm (H)
Laptop compartment fits: 290mm (L) x 30mm (W) x490mm (h)

I think that the width and depth are not in the right place on the Asus but i left the numbers as they are. And the numbers of the backpack should fit at least the MSI laptop but still it’s a lot thicker than the width of the backpack allows.

Thank you for your help,

Dark

@panth3ra does the notebook fit the compartment it's meant for or do you use the middle section ?

Although the notebook compartment is for 17'' models, the main compartment will fit bigger 17.3'' gaming models like G74 as well with plenty of room to spare. if someone don't trust i can upload some pictures. i'm really happy with it. it's a good choice. i'm taking my lappy with power supply, Razer Mamba and Lycosa ( keyboard). and there is still a lot of room for docs etc. and btw it's very comfortable.

Hehe, I beleive you, I had the backpack my self, but didn't like that the notebook could lie still in the middle compartment. So I'll try to find another backpack with better protection.

Except that I think that it is a backpack with full of opportunities for extra baggage also 🙂
