Hey guys, first post here. I've had this laptop (ROG G551JW) for a while now and I know for a fact I was able to connect an HDMI to it and use a projector (or TV) as my screen.
At one point during a prep for a show a couple of months ago my laptop died after running on battery for a while because someone unplugged the power source I was connected to. Plugged it back in only to find that nothing I plug in the HDMI slot works.
Usually at shows I'm running a long VGA with an HDMI adapter put into my laptop. At home I connect it to the TV with an HDMI cable. Well, used to...
Now the only slot I can use is the mini Display Port.
Is there anything I can do? What could it be from? Damaged GPU? Should I send it back or is there anything I can do to find out myself if the HDMI port is still active?
(It's definitely not the cables, because my wife is running her shows plugged in with those just fine)
I have seen threads where usb ports (and maybe others, i cant remember) fail. You can do a search for them maybe?
As for me, ive barely had my G752VY for 5 months and already the screen and keyboard have been changed due to hardware failure. In your case, it could be hardware failure as well, just make sure to delete and sensitive data and stored browser passwords when you send it in.
