Can we get some idea of battery life on this with the different displays? Are they all matte?

I don't see any availability for the 1080P version? Will this also be coupled with 16GB of RAM? I'm really not interested in dealing with Window's terrible scaling problems. If the 1080P version is not coupled with 16GB of RAM, is it possible to upgrade it to 16 or is there only 4GB soldered + 1 DIMM expandable?

From the specs: "DDR3L 1600 MHz SDRAM, OnBoard Memory 4 GB / 8 GB, 1x DIMM socket, DIMM Up to 16 G"

It's not possible to upgrade without breaking the warranty, although we will show you the components inside one next week.

All the displays are matt.

The specs are chosen by each country/retailer, rather than us in HQ. You can push a retailer to stock a certain spec.

The HD 5100 spec is wrong - I will get them to change it. Good spot!

No problem.

Can you switch between the iGPU and the dGPU?

The same way any Optimus system switches - profiles within the Nvidia drivers enable the use of dGPU over iGPU when it detects certain programs running.

Just noticed an oddity in the specs from Asus's website: Intel® HD Graphic 5100, listed under chipset. From Intel's chipset page for specs, No for integrated graphics. For the i7-4720HQ CPU, it lists "Intel® HD Graphics 4600".

It would be nice to know if you can switch between the iGPU and dGPU as well.

I just asked ASUS France on Facebook, the G501 should be available in late April in France.
