Asus policy on swapping RAM

Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask if anyone here could tell me where ASUS stands on swapping out RAM. I have a G75VW that came with 2x4Gb installed. I recently bought some Corsair 2x8Gb RAM, and added it into the user-accessible slots.

Now, my laptop is still under warranty, so I took it to the local ASUS service center here in Kuala Lumpur, and asked them to help me swap out the RAM for me, so I could upgrade another 2x8Gb in the coming months. I was told that they can't help me, and swapping the RAM would "void my warranty".

Why would this be the case, when I am not accessing laptop myself? Anyone can help clarify, or has had experience doing the same?

Cheers,

Asus will not take responsibility in swapping them, if they swap and then you have an issue with the laptop then you are going to blame them right?? so they will not take that chance.

And Asus service will only open the laptop if there is defect.

its like you buy a car and then go to there service center and ask for a free service.

Other than that you have to do it yourself when the warranty is over.

Here is the Thread on changing your RAM or upgrading it

And this thread states that you will void your warranty is you open up the NB to change the 2 Chips under the keyboard
"However for the sake of transparency to our customers, please be aware of upgrade limitations. While the G75VW has four SO-DIMM slots in total; two of which are situated underneath the keyboard and accessing them requires chassis dismantling that voids your warranty so please plan your needs carefully before you buy."
