Asus G75VX Lag Spikes + Programs not responding.

Hello everyone,

I recently just got my ASUS G75VX-RH71-CA from NCIX online store, but I have been facing some issues lately. Whenever I run high demanding games such as Far Cry 3 and Skyrim, I always get this mini lag spike every now and then which bothers me.

Does anyone have the solution to this? I haven't downloaded any drivers from the internet, and also I used the CD that came with the laptop. Sometimes when I play minecraft with my friends, it just randomly stops working and says that program not responding.

I am also using Windows 8 if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Alright I am going to try to revive this thread...
I have been playing games over the past month with this amazing laptop. It is a quite powerful machine that can basically handle anything at least on medium settings around 30 fps.
The problem is I still have this massive lag spikes when I play Assassin's Creed III, Far Cry 3, Minecraft MP, and Terraria MP, but when I play games like Skyrim, Arma III, Saints Row the Third, Dota 2, Crysis 3, Borderlands 2, Portal 2, MW2 MP, Hitman Absolution, I don't have a single problem.. I don't get any lag spike, and it runs really smooth on these games.
I also have 2 anti-virus, since I would like this laptop to be secure and virus free. Norton Internet Security and Avast.
If any of you can find a solution for this annoying lag spikes, that would be great.
P.S. I did download the modded NViDiA Drivers to the latest version so.... yea..

With Antivirus software, more is not better (see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=97603.0). Their drivers will conflict, causing problems like lagging, system lockups, and BSOD's. Y'got McAfee, AVG, and Trend Micro on there too?

Choose which one you wish to keep and uninstall the other from Windows Safe Mode. Then reboot and attempt to reproduce your issue. In fact, it'd be a good test to uninstall them both from Safe Mode, reboot, and attempt to reproduce the issue.

Just when I thought the problem will end, it doesn't....
I unistalled all my anti-virus programs which are Avast and Norton Internet Security, but when I played Assasin's Creed III on the highest settings possible at 40 fps, it randomly drops from 40fps to 0fps, even my MSI On Screen Display showed me, but like I said when I play other games like Skyrim, Dota 2, Arma III, etc. I never experience these problems...

I don't know why, but some people have to much paranoia about viruses. I haven't had an AV in years and my computers have always been clean. If you don't want to get infected, make sure you're Windows OS, Browser, Flash Player and Java are always up to date. You can always get Sandboxie and sandbox your browser so no virus can ever get in.

It looks like you're not the only one getting poor performance on that game. See http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/727583-Assassin-s-Creed-III-fps-drop-in-Boston/page42?.

Yaaa, but the thing is, it's not only happening for AC3, but also happens on Far Cry 3, Minecraft, and Terraria. My friends and I host a private server for terraria and minecraft, and this lag spike always occurs and it is certainly annoying..

If I were in your situation, I'd probably try a utility like IObit Advanced Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller to search for and remove uninstalled remnants of all the Antivirus software you previously installed on your laptop.

I would also attempt to uninstall the problem games with one of the Uninstaller utilities, then reinstall them to see if it eliminates the lagging behavior.

Uninstalled remnants have also caused problems with the NVIDIA drivers. If you are not performing a 'clean' NVIDIA install, I recommend giving it a try. You could also try using Driver Sweeper in Windows Safe Mode to remove any NVIDIA driver remnants.

I do recall a thread where the user reported certain games just wouldn't run right under Windows 8, but ran without issues under Windows 7. You might try configuring the problem games to run in Windows Compatibility Mode, though I recall it failed to help that user in the other thread.

I don't think antivirus is a conflict, because this problem seems to be happening with only ubisoft games. I have both Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 3 and the problem persists with both games. When I play games like Skyrim, NFS MW, Call of Duty, Dota 2, Portal 2, Hitman Absolution, and Bioshock Infinite, this doesn't happen. I am worried that when I get Watch Dogs when it comes out, these lag spikes will happen to this game also.

The Frames per second goes from 45 fps right down to 0~5 and it goes up back to 45 fps.... Someone please help!!

Thanks,

If you get a Asus G75VX Lag Spikes or a power surge I always buy a surge protectors, because I had a lighting strike close to our home and all our electronic are protected against power surge. However my father HP laptop computer wasn't protected against power surge when our first lighting strike came close to our home, and it blew my father laptop computer lucky the house wasn't on fire so we had to get a new computer for my father and I bought him a Crest Double Outlet with Surge Protection to protect his new laptop and a new printer.

Surge protector is great it can protect all electronic up to $75,000 10 year product and connected equipment warranty, and it safer than been sorry when all you're electronic can cost you a sh#t load of money.

PS. I've got mind as well to protect my new computer.
