ASUS G75VX - HDD Slow Issues

Hi,

I just purchased the ASUS G75VX to replace my desktop PC. It's great but for the 2nd HDD it always has to spin up when I want to access it. I have in my power options to never put the HDD to sleep but it seems like it's doing it as I will open windows explorer and select my data drive (second drive) takes about 3-5 seconds to start accessing data. How to fix this?

THanks

Bad luck D@nn_78, I was starting to think maybe it's just this laptop was faulty.

Yes, I have that too now, my SSD drive is almost 80% full whilst my normal 1TB HDD sits there with no data, as it is just un-usable. I'm saving up to buy another SSD - I so hope this fixes it. I bought this laptop as a workhorse, not a gaming station - it's being really unproductive for me so far 😞

Will let you know how it goes.

I would have to wonder if that is an issue with the loading styles of the older games, not the drive. I have never had those problems, but then again, I don't game, so I don't tend to stress the disk in that way (though I do compile the LINUX kernel, and that does slow down if it hits the HDD too much).
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂
LINUX Users, we have a group!

Oh yes it's that ! It must be ! I remember installing COD 4 on my G75vx and it took ages to load the game, and it wasn't my laptop it was the game, because I was at a LAN party and all the guys with "newer" machines had this same issue. Still it doesn't explain the slow load of movies.

Hi All, any update on the mechanical HD on off clicking. I can't figure it out why it needs 2-3 seconds to start reading any file on that HD.

I got the same problem with Asus G750-JS. Any solution yet?
