Would this Asus model be worth it for 900(after tax)? Would it last a long time or is the deal not that good?
Or how about a dell inspiron with 8gb ram 1tb space i7-3630qm and nvidia gt650 at 17.3 inches for $450

Here are the specs. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Open+Box+-+17.3%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-...

Thanks for advice

I'm a bit confused. The link shows a price of $1000.

That's just for you to see the specs 😛

You need to be a bit more specific. 😛 So both notebooks are used, not new, correct?
How "into" gaming are you? If not that insanely much, the Inspiron for $450 sounds like the better deal (although I'm not familiar with it). But if you are looking for better gaming performance, the gpu in the G75 is probably at least 25-30% better than the one in the Inspiron. If the G75 is only a few months old and in excellent condition, $900 isn't a bad price in my opinion. That's about what I paid for my G75VW refurb 3 months ago.
Not a killer deal, but a fair price.

Its 815( I say 900 for tax) and its open box, so I believe that that's brand new. This will be used every day for games haha.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Inspiron+17.3%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-+B...
Here is the dell, I might get that and just save money, but some of the review s are scary
Thank you for your input

Can't tell from the specs about the Dell if it has 1600x900 resolution or 1920x1080. All it says is hi-def. As I said before, if you are fairly serious about gaming, the Asus is the better choice. Being open box, what kind of warranty does it come with?

I actually think that you'd be better off posting this subject here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ in the "what notebook should I buy" section. Let's face it, most of us here are going to be biased towards the Asus. Many at notebookreview will probably have experience regarding the Inspiron and can speak of the quality of the machine. To me, that price on the Dell seems like a killer deal, but only if it is full hi-def and of respectable build quality, and not prone to overheating when the gpu is pushed.

As much as I love my G75, if I had spotted a deal like the one on that Dell, I might have jumped on it instead. But then again, I'm not a gamer. I liked the styling of the Asus, the great cooling system, and the fact that I could add a second HDD, and that the display is full hi-def.

EDIT: Discovered that the Dell's display is only a glossy 1600x900. 😛

FWIW, here is a link to C-Net's first impressions of the Dell 17R SE. They make mention of how thick and heavy it is. Apparently they hadn't seen the Asus G75 yet, LOL. Keep in mind that C-Net's version has a 1080p display, whereas the Best Buy version you are considering does not.
