Asus g75vw motherboard broken, should I repair the mb, or buy a new mb?

Hey,

I got the asus g75vw t1031v and got a few questions i'd like to ask:

Let's start at the beginning, i have this laptop for a few years now and had been working perfectly fine, i clean/dust everything inside the laptop every 6months/1year. So around 4 months ago it started acting up, whenever i lifted the bottom side of the laptop it would shut itself off, i could lift it up without any problems but it had to be done on from the top side. Anyway last month after opening it up and adding an SSD the next day it wouldn't turn on anymore.
When i turn it on the following happens:
- The indicator lights turn on
- Black screen
- The laptop shuts itself down after 5 seconds~

So after a week of not starting up at all i decided to bring it to a friend of mine who isn't an expert laptops but is handy with electronics etc. Basically he couldn't find the problem after trying a lot of things.

The problem:
I finally decided to send it to an expert and they told me that it is probably having an issue with a chip malfunctioning on the motherboard that is not sending the proper power to the rest of the laptop.

So... now i'm not too sure what to do... i could try and get it fixed (will be around €200,- in repairs) or i could try buying a new mobo... what are you guys opinion on what i should do, do you think this is actually the problem or do you have any other ideas what it could be? Is €200,- a lot just for probably changing out/fixing a chip?

New or used but working motherboard would be much better then rapaired one! Look at aliexpress they offer a lot of boards around 200usd.

Have you ruled out a faulty CMos battery, bad ram, or virus. It might be worth restoring to factory settings before giving up. Ebay is a good source for used motherboards. Good luck.

You may have a BIOS/CMOS problem, I had a similar problem after an update. I would push the power button and the light would come one for about 5 seconds and then turn off. I posted a method to jumper across 2 solder points on the motherboard to wipe the data and it did the emergency BIOS restore. I thought my motherboard was bad also, but it was fine. Read my earlier post and see it this might help, good luck!
