ASUS G751JY-DH73-CA Notebook comparable to MSI Notebook GT72 2QE-416US Dominator Pro?

Hey guys,

Im considering buying one of these laptops and/or any other suggestions that are comparable in price but mostly specs.

Are these 2 models comparable? if so which would you want and why, if not what is an equal comparison?

I am buying a new laptop for autocad and some gaming so I want it to be good.

What do you guys think?

The IPS LCD screen on the Asus JY is very high quality in terms of viewing angles and color accuracy. From what I have read, the screen on the MSI is not nearly as good unless you purchase one of the most expensive models that start at US$3,000.

On the other hand, the GTX980M on the MSI has 8GB of VRAM while the Asus has only 4. Thus, future games with really large textures may not work as well on the Asus. However, from recent tests it appears that really large textures stress the GTX980M to the point that it may not be able to provide adequate frame rates regardless of VRAM size.

G751JY's weakness is the proprietary GTX 980m with only 4GB of VRAM, GT72's weakness is the Super RAID 3 on M.2 SATA (you need a $4k configuration to have something like a G751JY).
G751JY's strength is M.2 PCIE SSD, GT72's strengths are MXM GPU and GTX 980m with 8GB of VRAM.
G751JY has better (IPS) display and Thunderbolt.

There isn't a winner. It depends on your needs.

stoop14, that's because this is an Asus User Support Forum, and we aren't interested in talking about the MSI laptops here.

If you want to discuss the MSI GT72 you will find plenty of people in the MSI User Support Forums, and independent laptop web sites.

You haven't read much of the GT72, because it's an obsolete machine with an upgraded GPU.
