Asus G751 battery stuck at 0%. Every 10-15 mins shuts down - found a FIX (kind of)

Hey guys, i need ur help.
Befor I start,I know there a few threads with battery issues. But my is a little different.

My battery is stuck at 0%. It won't charge up even if it says "charging". Every 10-15 mins my notebook shuts down, without any warning.
When I reboot, all windows are still open (maybe energysaving mode).
It wont start without plugged of AC.

What I tried:
1. Plugged off AC and press power for 1 min. (not worked)

2. Go to device manager -> battery -> and deinstall all komponents
after the restart they installed themself (not worked)

3. what has worked (kind of)
device manager -> battery -> deactivate Windows ACPI....

since I did option 3 the battery isn't in my taskbar anymore. My Notebook doesn't shut down.
BUT the video card is not working anymore (Code 43).

When I activate the battery again and restart windows the nvidia video card workes again.
=> so if u activate the battery and restart, the videocard workes... and if u deactivate the battery afterwards, everything is nice (battery off - video card on)
but its kid of annoying doing that all the time.

Do u guys have any idea what I can do? I don't mind if the AC must be plugged in everytime. I just need the video card working.

You are right... but lower mAh of battery just means ONLY that the battery has lower capacity = will discharge little bit quickly... and that's all. It will NOT impact gaming since no one reasonable thinking person will play using only the battery.
You will not notice this capacity difference at all if using/playing laptop while connected to AC PSU.

If your PSU is faulty or has not enough power then high power gaming requires both AC + battery consumption, so this is exceptional situation... not standard, so at your place I would:

1. disconnect faulty battery
2. temporary use AC only... and buy battery replacement in the meantime and ASAP...
3. replace battery and play as before using both: AC + battery.

Why I would do 1? Since it is already defected and (although battery has lots of security levels) it still might: put additional stress to your PSU trying to charge it instead of focusing on powering the laptop, it can set on fire... you never know!

ok, i bought a new battery and replaced it.
After I booting it up, everything seems to be fine. It was charging.

But after it was fully charged I unplugged the AC and the battery dropped from 100% to 0% and the Laptop shut down again.

I rebooted it again and now it says "3% charging" but it is not charging... it stays at 3%.
Then suddenly its 100% again and after I unplugged it, the same thing happend.

I try to uninstall the ACPI and restart again but its not working ...

I paid 80€ for the battery and its not working 😞

Wish I saw this when you first posted it. Before doing hardware, always do software first.

I say backup everything and reinstall Windows fresh via CD / USB. See if the issue persists.

i dont know what to do now.
After the battery was fully chared up, i unplugged it and it worked fine... i let it drop to about 7% and recharged it again.
But after it was on 100% again it dopped from to 60% normally and than from 60 to 0% within 1 second.

and everytime when its on 0% and i charge it agai, the battery is stuck at 2% but in the background its still charging. because after a while it jumpes from 2% to 100%.

Uhhh, you are out of luck! Assuming your new battery is OK... looks like you might have a cold solder somewhere. But maybe even you original battery is quite OK?

I wold look for cold solders at the palces where connectors are and where higher temps might be... often also at battery/psu connectors.

Ecologic lead free solders are not so much durable nowadays...

P.S. In general you should not let your battery to discharge, it harms LiPos.
And there is no formatting of LiPo battery... since it is not NiMH battery.

i dont know if its like that.
Because, even when it says its just 2%, the battery workes for more like 1 hour.
Could it be a software problem?

I do not think it is a software problem. However to be 100% sure maybe try to boot your PC from some bootable DVD with e.g. Ubuntu. At Ubuntu there is also a battery icon... so you can compare.

P.S. Have you tried with long press of laptop Power buton while it is connected to PSU? It resets PSU and laptops electonics that are responsible for charging...

ehm... the battery led is blinking all the time. I saw in other threads the option to reset everything with the Powerbutton press.

but I had try it without PSU connected.
Now i tried it with PSU plugged in and after i restarted my notebook the blinking led was gone and everything seems to be fine. I was so happy. But after about 20 seconds the laptop shuts down itself again 😞 and after i restart (without PSU) the Led is blinking again, the battery says 2% but its still running for like over 1 hour.

It almost worked. 😞

Its weird, because everytime I unplug the PSU its shuts down within 10 seconds. But after I restart it (PSU still unplugged) it starts again and run a decent while.


I dont know how to boot on Unbuntu 😕

Install Windows on a separate HDD and boot from that, see if the issue persists. ;x
