ASUS G750JS - Not detecting Graphics Card

Hey guys, I am really hoping that you can give me some better tips that what ASUS customer support advised.

I have a ASUS G750JS laptop, Intel i7 4700k, GTX 870M, 12 GB RAM and Windows 8.1.

The issue here is that at times the graphics card that is supposed to be running is no longer detected in my Device Manager, meaning that it uses the Intel HD Graphics 4600 instead. Kind of a bummer if you are trying to game. I have tried to deactivate, re-install drivers, updated BIOS, ran it in safe mode to upgrade, tried using with DDU to remove all of the driver files and try a clean install. Its happened before and it worked fine to reinstall the drivers after a DDU wipe, but now it seems to be just horribly wrong. ASUS support suggested a complete recovery, which I did and still the same issue. I am worried that it might be something hardware related or a wire, instead of driver issue.

NoxiouS, it sounds like you have debugged it to a hardware problem. You have exhausted the software options by doing the reset, DDU, etc.

You can file a Technical Inquiry using the info you have to support an RMA request to replace the GPU/motherboard - include all the supporting debugging and emails you exchanged with support already. - or ask in the current open case for an RMA.

https://vip.asus.com <== create a login, register your laptop, file a Technical Inquiry.

Please come back and let us know how it works out. 🙂

Hi Scott,
I have the exact same issues as Noxious and I have already file a technical issues on it. So hopefully the support can resolve this issues soonest possible.

DareDevil, hopefully Asus will get it debugged/fixed for you quickly.

It looks like Noxious hasn't been back, his profiles shows this post as his last login time. Too bad, I know it is disappointing to get a failure, but the fix can happen quickly and then you have years of fun use left in the laptop.

I felt the same way with my Asus G2S when the GPU became flaky after a couple of months or so of use - but Asus replaced it and no trouble since.

Please come back and let us know how it works out for you DareDevil 🙂

Hi Scott,
So here some update. I have just send in to the authorized service center as per the technical advised. The service center side told me they will need about 3 working days to verified the issues. Another 2-3 weeks for the part replacement if required (is this the standard timeline for all the service center??). In my opinion is kind of long waiting but there is nothing much can be done except waiting. So when my beast back on my hand i will do some update again.

Ok! finally the beast is back on my hand again. I transferred the laptop to another Asus service center instead and after 5 working days they change the faulty motherboard instead of the graphic card. So now is back online now and everything back to normal. I even got an upgraded OS to 8.1
