My laptop is 4 months old and has stopped working, with nothing recently downloaded onto the laptop I just have no idea what caused this. The startup has become slow and when the laptop is on it's just is a frozen state with windows not responding .

Usen93, Microsoft messed up some recent patches, which need to be backed out - for Windows 8/8.1 which can cause black screen, bsod's, and other odd behavior. If you have auto-updates turned on, or did a manual update recently, this is a good place to start debugging.

Check for these Updates to see if you have them installed - follow the safe mode removal, and post removal instructions.

There are a number of such problematic patches, and you can go to each page to read the details, this is one that lists the others:

MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 12, 2014
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2982791/en-us

"Microsoft is investigating behavior in which systems may crash with a 0x50 Stop error message (bugcheck) after any of the following updates are installed:
2982791 MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 12, 2014
2970228 Update to support the new currency symbol for the Russian ruble in Windows
2975719 August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
2975331 August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012"

The problem still exists on August 27:

MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 27, 2014
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2993651

I would turn off auto-updates, and wait for the final final fixes to be declared.

Let us know what you find, and how it works out.

Thing is I don't know how to resolve this issue, the laptop won't run anymore it's always not responding and I can't even bring it to safe mode to try and fix it. It's running on windows 8 I haven't patched it to 8.1

Usen93, the bad patches were for Windows 8, and others for Windows 7 as well.

You said "The startup has become slow and when the laptop is on it's just is a frozen state with windows not responding ."

You need to describe exactly what is / is not working. Does it POST and try to start Windows? Does Windows start, but when you login it "freezes" What can you do, and what can't you do?

Did you make an Asus Backtracker flash recovery drive?

Did you try pulling the 2nd bay drive, and leave only the boot drive installed, and try to boot? Can you pull out the 2.5" drive and put it in an external enclosure to copy your data to another PC?

Did you try to boot on a Windows 8 DVD / USB flash drive to see if you can run the Windows Repair on the boot RAID0?

Can you get into the BIOS? Do you see the RAID0, and the 2nd bay 2.5" drive?

You need to gather info and make a clear statement of what is / is not working for us to help you 🙂
