Asus G750-JW Screen dying - very Dim

Hey everyone. I've had my laptop since Christmas of 2013 and my screen seems to be broken. I've had minor issues in the past where it would go off and come back on, but now it seems to be staying off. I can turn on the notebook and see the screen ever so slightly. It is extremely dim. I tried googling and I'm thinking I might have to replace the whole screen, is this accurate?

I could wiggle it around a bit and the backlight would flicker on for a second. Now it's just staying off and I've removed the screen and put it back on to see if that would help at all. There are no cracks or any other damage to it. So essentially the screen itself is just one part and there are no bulbs or anything like that separate? Just looking for some advice before I purchase a new screen. Thanks. *

For your screen to last than long on a ROG laptop is amazing. My screen and keyboard failed after only 5 months. About 2 months after replacement, the screen is showing symptoms of failure again...

This is most likely hardware failure of the screen, looks like you'll have to get it replaced. If it wont turn on, plug in the laptop to a tv using a hdmi cable, backup your data, clean any sensitive material and remove all your passwords from your internet browsers before sending it to a service center. Just remember they install the correct type (G-Sync, etc). For a G-Sync capable screen, after installation the Nvidia control panel may not recognize it, the solution is to reset BIOS settings so factory default, somehow this fixes it, not even Nvidia know why lol.

I wish you the best of luck with this.

Thank you for the reply and other information. I'm going to try and do this myself.

Looking at buying that screen and the model number matches mine. Says it has a glossy finish, does that correspond with the model number or is it just a separate feature whether it's glossy or matte? Would I encounter problems switching from one to the other? I'm thinking my current screen is glossy, but not very sure.

I replaced the screen and still having problems. The screen will go black and sometimes if I wiggle it there is pressure on the keyboard it will flicker on for a second. Not sure what else that could be.
