Asus G75 disk drive

Hey guys recently bought the Asus G75 ss71 cbil model from staples and up until about two days ago everything was going smooth. The other day the disk drive stopped working it shows up in the device manager and the drive browser but when I put a disk in it doesn't spin up or even recognise there is a disk in it. I have tried reinstalling windows from a usb that didn't solve anything I also tried changing the drive letter as well as cleaning the lens, microsoft disk fixer did nothing, calling support was useless. Could this have anything to do with me going into the partition manager and switching some storage space around creating new partitions?

Please clarify your posting. Is it your optical disc drive that's not working? Or is it your hard drive that's not working?

Edit: nevermind, I see the reference about cleaning the lens. Sounds like a bad drive. Are you still in your return window? If so, I'd ask for an exchange.

Try restoring your system to factory install by using the recovery partition ... follow my hints on what to do first and get yourself a set of recovery DVDs.

Could definitely be hardware issue with the drive but also could be a byproduct of asus installed updates on your machine causing issues ... restoring to factory shipped should help answer that.
