Hello guys I been having an Asus G74SX since they came up. I was wondering while my laptop started to have Pink and Green Flickering while I sometimes tap the laptop with my fingers or when opening and closing the lid. Its really annoying. It doesnt display it while plugged in to an external Monitor, in the monitor it doesnt show but the laptop does it itself. also If its some parts that needs replacing can you show me to the right place please.

Looks like the LCD ribbon cable is either loose or partially broken. =\

I dont know what more details to give. Its in the wholr display like green horizontal bar flashes around 1 inch wide and all across the screen. It happens always when fixing the lid to a better angle or simply when i close and open the lid.

Hi,

Keeping in mind the laptop lid is made of plastic and glass, be extremely careful when attempting the following.

Turn your computer on and wait until windows loads, when its finished loading;

Take your left hand and place it on the bottom left of the lid with your thumb on the plastic covering the bottom left of the screen.
Your left hand will also be keeping the screen from moving (hinging open or closed), so place you hand in a good spot to do that as well.

Take your right hand and place it on the top right of the screen, with your thumb on the plastic covering the top right corner of the screen.

Now SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY push the pull the top right with your right hand, it is plastic and glass so dont use a lot of force.

If the green lines dont show up, do the same thing but on the other corners (right hand on the lower right, left hand on the upper left).

If the green lines show up, MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT HINGING THE SCREEN. If they are there and you are sure you arent hinging the screen chances are its a bad screen. (I will help you with further diagnosis when you post your findings).

If the green lines dont show up;

close your laptop and turn it around so you are looking at the back of it.

*edit, forgot this part, Turn the laptop over and remove the 5 recessed screws at the back of the machine then flip back over.*

using your finger tips stick them between the bottom of the lid and the 'hump' (the plastic piece that covers the screen hinges).
now carefully rock your hands down (like you are giving gas to a motorcycle). This should remove the cover.

Now open your laptop and resume windows.

close your lid halfway, so you can still see the screen but can also touch the wiring you just exposed at the rear of the computer.

now get some small needle nose pliers.

put them on the center of the fat wires you just exposed.

CAREFULLY pull the wire straight up then down on the same angle the screen is on. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE WIRES THIS WAY, we are just testing to see if they are broken or not in proper contact.

Do the same to the other side.

If the screen turns green when you pull up, you have an issue with the wiring/contact on the mother board side.
If the screen turns green when you pull down, you have an issue with the wiring/contact on the screen side.

Let us know how it turns out.
