Asus G74sx powers off during gaming

Hi, I bought my g74sx and it randomly powers off then on when I'm playing games.
GPU idles at 40C and gets to 55C under load
CPU and other temps dont go above 50C
My graphics driver is updated
If anyone can help identify the issue it'd be great.

I didn't read most of that, try a new power adapter. Higher loads from gaming would cause that. Good Luck

I can see that you are running some sort of tune-up utility program on your laptop, to be specific, Glary Utilities 3. I can also tell you are running GPU Tweak. You're playing League of Legends i suppose?

Now what i can say is, uninstall Glary Utilities 3. I don't know how you are using your laptop and what you are doing on your laptop but sometimes, "tune-up" Utilities program tend to automatically remove; adjust; "tune" certain files and settings on your system which might in turn cause it to be unstable.

Next, you seem to be using GPU Tweak so i must assume you are doing something to your GPU. If you are overclocking, try running at a lower clock or simply going back to default clock speeds. Overclocking your gpu over its limits and your system might shut down to protect your GPU from catastrophic failure.

Lastly, what i can tell is you have a problem with volsnap a.k.a Volume Shadow Copy Driver on your laptop. Now this is a legit program from Microsoft however, it is very well known that a lot of malware camouflages itself as volsnap and mess with your computer. If you are trying to use or run WinFlash to flash your BIOS, don't. Flash your bios in the bios itself.

All in all, personal advice to you if you want to avoid problems on your system, try to avoid installing and using bogus programs on your system. Also, don't attempt to do anything that will affect system integrity unless you really know what you are doing. G74SX even in it's out of box setup, should never have any problems running League of Legends. One last thing, Game Booster does nothing to increase performance while gaming. If it did, it means you have too many task and background operations running such as ie. Glary Utilities.

Would you care to better describe what is wrong with your laptop? You've mentioned it "powers off then on" while gaming. What do you mean by that? Does your laptop totally turn off suddenly while you are gaming then you would have to turn your laptop on again? Or does your game crashes and return to desktop and you have to start your game again? Or do you have blue screen of death? What exactly are the problems you are having now?

A better description of your problem would help us understand what is wrong.

My laptop completely powers off with no warning, then turns back on by itself and it restarts...
No bsod or error messages. Just off then back on. Starts up asking if I want to start in safe mode.

If possible, can you check under your AC adapter and tell us the output voltage (19V?) and output current?

Just wanted to check the easy stuff first and make sure you are using the correct AC adapter 🙂 .

Your adapter specs look fine for 150w output although the original ASUS 150w adapter outputs should be 19.5V, 7.7A, so if you aren't using an original ASUS adapter try to make sure this isn't causing any problems if you can.

Although you may not want to run it this way normally, check if the unit ever powers off when you are on battery power only which should indicate a problem not related to the AC adapter.

If you're still under warranty or want information about sending it to ASUS for service, let me know although you may still want to go through more troubleshooting first.

I've made it about 10 league games without crashing, by playing on battery power only.
Going to buy a new AC adapter soon and hopefully that solves the issue.
