Asus G73JH with 6970M. Need some help with fan control

Hey all

Have a small problem. How does one control the GPU and CPU fan speed ? Also are they linked so if one part has a fault they just max out at 4500RPM ?
We get that the EC controls the fans but is there any way to add othe trip points for the fans ??
Have been able to get a look at the bios with a editor but the mobo bios show only parts of the bios string and well editing anything does nothing (after flasing the new edited bios)

Maybe the ppl at ROG can at least give a hint how it is controled and also does the ASUS ATI HD 5870 give out non standard values to the mobo ?

Lots of questions and maybe a bit crazy to understand but the reasons i am asking is that a few ppl have the 6970M in the JH and it runs and works just fine....exept the fan control. I can see that the fans do change speeds from 4000-4500RPM but it would be better if we were able to lower the RPM and set our own speeds.

Some pics: (PS yes i know i lost my warranty doing this 😄 )

Moded AW M17X R3 heatsing and JH heatpipe and vent grill

I'm really not sure. Who made the 6970? Perhaps you need a different vbios to enable automatic control.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

Mine is form Dell. It is for the M17 and M18 line of notebooks.

Now we know that Clevo cards work with fan control but not perfect.

My question still is what controls what and how are the GPU and CPU fans linked?
