Asus g73jh Problems, computer shuts off without warning (almost like an overheat)

(note: I added most of my computers Specs and information into my profile. )

So I have come across a problem where my computer will shut off completely when playing FFXIV at random. I am able to play way more intensive games without any problems. (Ark Survival Evolved(medium-low graphics), Life is Strange(full graphics i think?..) Terra(full graphics, Arche age (full graphics)).

Crash Characteristics: The computer would Shut off without warning. almost like an overheat )

When i first started playing FFXIV i thought the crashing was due to Windows 10 because i had downloaded the free trial shortly after upgrading to windows 10, so i downgraded back to windows 7... -Crashing would only happen once or twice a week.

(Side question: windows 10 upgraded my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics driver to AMD Mobility Radeon HD 8000 (or something cant remember the exact number because downgrading to Win7 also downgraded my graphics driver) Is this kind of thing safe? could it cause any performance issues? I plan on going back to WIndows 10 someday once they have finally worked out more bugs and i would like to know if this could cause compatibility issues or possibly even overwork my graphics card to the point of slowly melting it into a state of disrepair...?)

However I THINK this problem was cause by the new Targus laptop cooling fan I bought drawing too much power. perhaps FFXIV was also drawing alot of power coupled with the fan causing the laptop not to have enough electricity to keep itself running. so I used a dual USB wall charger to plug the fan into the power strip so that it does not eat up power that the components of my laptop need to run. (if thats even the problem)

I also went into The ATI cataclyst and turned down some settings just incase it was a graphics card issue. possibility of them interfereing with eachother?... Most of the options are set to value performance over quality At the moment... with "Use applications settings" checked.
*could a conflict in graphics settings between FFXIV and ATI even cause the computer to just shut off with out any logs or BSoDs? Should i just restore these settings to default?

I have not played FFXIV that much recently for fear of another Shutdown but have played sessions of 1-2 hours off and on through out the week with no problems so far (however when i was playing actively before my investigating and troubleshooting the shutdowns occured completely random i could end up playing FFXIV for 6 hours and then have it shut down 2 hours in on the next day or even 3 days later.) I ruled out the possibility of an overheat since the Targus fan under the laptop keeps the belly of the laptop cool to the touch (however Speccy Seems to report medium high to high temps at all times BUT this even applies right after the computer has been turned on after not being on for 8 or more hours so i just assume speccy as no idea what its doing.)

Then i noticed that about a week ago my Laptops battery light would flash green and orange. indicating that the battery is going bad (or i read somewhere that it could actually be a problem with the motherboard??) the laptop will run without the battery(the battery light remains turned off -prolly cus theres no battery) and with out the powercord with just the battery (battery light flashes still.)
i found a suggestion about taking the battery out and holding the powerbutton for 10 seconds fixing the problem, which it did... for about 5 hours when it started blinking again.

So out of fear that it could be something wrong with the motherboard... i found out about a program that can monitor your Asus hardware with details and stuff called ASUS probe II. Also it seemed that this program might also allow me to see the voltage levels of my interal hardware so i could find out if low voltage was indeed the problem with the crashing issue. However when trying to install the program... it states that i must have an ASUS motherboard.... which... i do?....
*is my laptop version grandfathered by the program and ASUS? Was i supposed to use a previous version of Probe II?

Im planning on buying a new battery (even though i usually NEVER run the computer on just the battery) to see if changing the battery will stop the battery light from blinking. even though this battery still seems in working condition...

also.. could someone clarify what kind of motherboard issue a blinking orange/green battery light could be? just an issue with the battery connected to the motherboard or could it mean that the motherboard itself is going down the pooper?... (just incase a new battery doesnt stop the light from blinking)

I apologize with the huge wall of text and random questions but i wanted to give as much information as possible to possibly pinpoint the problem.

Im planning on buying a new battery (even though i usually NEVER run the computer on just the battery) to see if changing the battery will stop the battery light from blinking. even though this battery still seems in working condition...

In my experience, that condition can be caused by the battery not being in sync with the OS sensors, not necessarily a bad battery. A bad battery will discharge very fast, and will take a long time to recharge, if it even does.

However, if you do get a new battery (which is something I have done,) then in order to keep it in sync with the OS, do not leave the battery charging while the notebook is off. unplug the notebook, if you shut it down. I have been using a non-OEM battery successfully for the past couple of years now.

Alright, i will try to do that when i get a new battery. trying to get into the habit of unplugging my laptop when its not on before hand.

However, do you know what kind of motherboard issue the flashing light could indicate? i read somewhere else that it could also indicate a motherboard problem and i want to look at this from all possible angles.

Also would you happen to know why Asus Probe II wont acknowledge my motherboard as an asus motherboard when I try to install it?

User HWINFO to monitor the temperature of ur GPU and CPU and voltages and try to remove the battery and play without battery connected...if the laptop still shuts down then ur GPU or CPU is crossing 100 degree Celsius ! if it is then time to repaste the cpu and gpu 🙂
