Hello everyone,

I have problem with my Asus G73JH's Hard Disk.

The problem happen while I using laptop and then it hang and the HDD led indicator is turn blue all the time without flickering.
I think the problem is the HDD internal port because I have replace all the HDD with PS3 HDD and the problem stills there.

I have sent it to ASUS Warranty Service for 2 times but they couldn't find the problem

Here is the video similar to my problem

Please help me.

P/S: My English is bad but I hope you can understand me.

Did your system start to hang recently? If so, using Windows System Restore to restore your system to a time before you experienced the hang is the first step in troubleshooting your issue.

If this fails, what Errors and Warnings do you see in the System and Application Event Logs?

Have you run a CHKDSK [Drive Letter] /F /R on the partitions of your HDD?

Are you running Windows as it was installed by ASUS on your system or have you performed a clean Windows installation?

What Antivirus, AntiMalware, Firewall, and Remote Access software have you installed to your G73JH?

Thanks for replying my thread.

Yeah, my system hang recently and sometime it jumps out Blue Sceen Of Death because windows can't detect the HDD.

Ah ! I also forget to mention about the Disk read error and HDD couldn't detect message when I booting up my laptop. In that situation, I have to knock or slap in the back of laptop (at the HDD's position) and then my laptop run again.

Someone mention that HDD bad attached, so I open laptop, take the HDD out and then connect it again but the problem still exists.

I don't think it is the software problem ... 100% sure is hardware.

If you've done the troubleshooting and confirmed it is a hardware issue, the next step is:

1) Contact your retailer to return or exchange the defective laptop (if you are still within the retailer's return/exchange policy).

2) If you are outside the retailer's return/exchange policy, RMA the laptop to ASUS for warranty repair. Hard to believe they couldn't fix it in 2 tries already! I'd recommend you PM Chastity@ASUS and get a case number.

3) If you are out of the ASUS warranty period, replace the faulty HDD yourself, or farm out the repair to a qualified shop.

Ok, I'll add a video as my proof about this issue

I'm using my laptop and then I heard a strange sound (like *clack*) from my laptop and then the BSOD appeared ...

As you can see the system couldn't collect the data because the HDD didn't run ... I must slap to the back and it run again !

I have exactly the same issue now (including the strange 'clack' sounds that preceeds the failures).

I purchased a new HDD and cloned the data from the original but to no avail.

Now the system will not even boot into windows.

What was the underlying cause of the original posters problem, now that my laptop is out of warrenty is it worth getting fixed or time to replace?

replace hdd and install windows 7, that clack you describe only happens to dying drives it happens when the head hits the platter the drive will usually flunk and you'll get a BSOD.
