Asus G55vw has really high temperature after updating Nvidia Driver

Hey all,

After updating my Asus G55vw with 660m with the latest Nvidia Driver, I've noticed that after playing BF3 for about 10 minutes, my GPU's temperature shot up to 80Oc +. After I quit the game to let the laptop cool down, the temperature just linger around 50Oc... Is it my fan's fault or is it the latest driver?

I've never had an overheating issue before, so I am assuming it's the Driver (314.22).

Anyone can share their experience with their Asus right now?

i suggest to revert to the previous versions and check if it's the driver that causes the issues.

I reverted my driver into the older versions and found the source of the problem. The right fan seemed to not function at all, leaving all the heat dissipate through the right vent. How do I fix this, it seemed like the right fan (the fan on the numpads) isn't working....

oh.. for a g55, i think you need to send it in to service center for further inspections 😕 unlike g75, we don't get to see the fans in our g55 (hence the maintenance can only be done by authorized technicians from ASUS, if you need to preserve the warranty).

what you could do now is to use compressed air to blow the vents when the laptop is turned off. you can try to search through the forum for similar threads.
