Actually got carried away with the device.

It's value in hardware id is AUO36ED. It is the same as the y50 in spec, technically. But I liked this display more. Good colours and side-to-side viewing angles. Top-down viewing angles not so great. Its powerful though and there's only minimal heating on it under heavy gaming. I kind of like the keyboard, then again its personal opinion.
My major worry was the ugle bulge on the bottom right of the notebook, but it actually doesn't bother me one bit after I got it. I barely notice it. The sound is pretty average. I expected more. It has a decent battery life of about 4 hours ( Then again it's after a fresh charge , so i don't trust it )

All in all, I'm very happy with the notebook so far !

No IPS is an EPIC fail from ASUS, and they are going to lose a ton of customers as a result.

My GL551 has been delivered today...won't be able to try it out until tonight though.

I am almost relieved that the screen is not IPS. I had to return two MSI GS60 as the light bleed (or maura effect) was so distracting and dissapointing with its IPS screen.

Now...to only be able to find out what kind of WiFi card it has...

Yes there is an IPS option on one of the Full HD versions out there, but it might not be stocked in every region. You have to check the specs before you buy. See the PR for the full spec list.

This is not determined regionally. Each retail/etail store has the option to order it and stock it. They should even be able to push their ASUS sales rep to order some if it's not in our distribution hub.

Well, In terms of appeareance I think it lost the "slim" impression its predecessor had making the curves on the sides(sorry, but I loved that from other one), I share the question if this has the dual fans also on the the side and if the bottom is still a aluminum plate or is now plastic (in the video the texture is not very clear), aside from that in terms of specs I remember that this one has a variant with the 860M that is an improvement, does this also will have the 4k resolution like the GX500?
