So I am anticipating my G55 to arrive in the mail sometime next week, however, just how many faulty machines do you think there are? Of course most people who show up at forums are those who are facing issues, but there seems to be quite a lot no?

There just aren't any positive words here!

Try again. I have a G53SX, and have had zero hardware problems with it. The USB 3.0 has been flaky, but that is a function of the drivers, not the hardware. Interesting that you would make the comment you did, especially considering that there was a thread created just today talking about how the user is having no problems:

I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂

I already read that, but besides the point of my words on the lack of positive comments, the real concern is the amount of problems encountered on these machines. Like I said before, most people who dwell on these forums of course only reports the problems they face. Those who are content usually do not bother posting anything.

If you are going to buying a decent computer/ whipping out over 1300 dollars or more, I think one would like to actually purchase a fully functioning machine with no flaws. If it doesn't bother you, its bound to bother someone else. Its based on individual preference of course, however when you are purchasing a product, you do expect it to work effortlessly.

@john is right, every computer line has problems, it's just the nature of the game. Remember that around here, a lot of people are new on tweaking their systems, and they mess things up. Those of us who frequent the forums are busy attempting to help others on our own time. Some people have hardware problems, yes, but most of the time it is simply software, and we are able to help them. For instance, over the last two days, I was able to help some gal get her computer running reliably--corrupted video driver. I showed her how to uninstall the old driver, clean it out under Safe Mode, and then install the new one, and she reports that her system is running perfectly. I was not the only one who chipped in, several other members of the forum did as well.

Don't worry about hardware failure risks, if they occur, contact one of the "@ASUS" members if you have problems with ASUS customer support. As a number of the old hands will agree, the vast bulk of the threads around here are something like: "Help, I was messing around with my computer, and now it won't boot." or "I was fiddling with things that I didn't understand, and I messed something up. Plz help."

While I am not trying to make fun of people who make mistakes--don't we all!--I just wanted to point out that most of the issues are happily and quickly resolved. The longer threads are not usually problems, as much as we like chatting about working on our computers, and we are eager to learn how somebody's experiment turned out. That's just the ROG'n way :). Best of luck!

Most forums are used to voice issues that may arise to get answers and a solution. Most problems are easily fixed with some feedback, as there are a lot of extremely knowledgable people on these forums. I would have to think that most people, like myself, are extremely happy with their purchase.

I think you made a great choice picking an Asus ROG G55 laptop. I'm sure you will be extremely happy with it. And if you so happen to have a problem with it, someone here will most likely be able to help. (not that you will have a problem:D) Enjoy your purchase when it comes!
