Good news guys 😄 I've installed my I7 3820qm today in my G46 and it's working at stable temps of 36c-46c along with some awesome benchmark but I don't think the CPU is on it's full potential since i saw benchmarks on I7 3820qm scoring somewhat higher than mine 1737417375

G46vw with 3820QM full load and temp cpu just 36-46*C o.O

yeah i was surprised too! i expected it would go to 50 - 60s, but rather it stayed same as my old i5, i will try other temp and benchmark programs tmr to make sure it's right

You should be getting higher temps than that, my i7-3630qm will hit upper 70's across the cores after a good hard gaming (Crysis3,X-Plane10,BF3,FC3, Planetscape2, etc) or benchmark (3Dmark11 or the new 3DMark, Intel burn test, etc) session that pushes the CPU to 90%+ utilization. I'd be curious if you are throttling or aren't getting full potential or might be voltage limited... I was told that our motherboards lack the third power circuit when I posted pictures of my upgrade over on NBR and the gentleman that noticed and commented said he would be hesitant of putting in the higher end i7's.... but I have no idea why.

What is your CPU physics score in 3DMark11? If I recall properly mine almost doubled from the i5's performance. When I compare my results online in the benchmark my CPU is right where it should be, it's a good gauge as to if its running properly.

I'd recommend loading up HWinfo64 to monitor temps and load/utilization/voltage and do some more testing during benchmarks and gaming... I'd be curious how it compares to mine, I've got some screenshots of my runs. Mine idles in that range, upper 30's-lower 40's, but under full load it's well into the 60's-70's, occasionally hitting about 80 when maxed out stress testing. Performance is great though speed wise.

Keep us posted!
