Asus downgraded and gimp the 1080p screen on the G75VX compared to G75VX

Asus messed up when they replaced the screen of the G75 default screen of Chi Mei N173HGE to AUO B173HW02. The black lvls and the contrast ratio is worst on the AUO screen on the G75VX and this probably has something to do with the loose screen frame also.

Chi Mei N173HGE on all G75VW
- 800:1 Contrast Ratio
- 0.3 cd/m² Black Levels Value (lower the better)

AUO B173HW02 on the new G75VX
- 450:1 Contrast Ratio
- 0.6 cd/m² (lower the better)

When I was comparing the G75VW and 75X side by side, the screen on the VW looks cleaner and shows true blacks than the VX where the blacks looks a lil greyish/bluish because of the downgrade of black lvls.

The moral of all this is that, don't change anything or fix anything if it's not broke. The upgrade to Kepler 670mx and Thunderbolt are good but why gimp the damn Screen Asus?!?!?! SMH TSK TSK TSK

Some VW have Chi Mei and some have AUO. Same thing for VX. I've got a VX with a Chi Mei. (and I hate the graininess)

you can ask service center, give your SN, they are able to check.

VX i got has a Chi Mei but just a heads up the specs you listed are not even close to what sun spider picked up on the VW i had or this VX.

sun spider lsd at full brightness

Brightness: 267 cd/m2
Contrast: 670:1
Blacks: 0.47 cd/m2

Just like its been pointed out. The VW's and VX's both use Chi Mei and AUO. This is one of the reason you need to check out the system before you get it so you dont get one of the gimped versions Asus has been so kindly to put out. On the upside i seen one of the AUO's and they looked like crap.

Ok I found it. It says MONITOR\LGD02D9. So is this good or bad? LOL. My monitor seems flawless though...
