The DC port pin from the laptop broke off (melted off?) and is stuck in the AC adapter. I need to power on (trying to find a battery) so that I can back up the data and send it to ASUS for repair.
You could just remove the HDD before you send it in. Make sure call first and get it noted on the RMA, but that shouldn't be a problem since the problem is clear and not related to anything software.

That's a good point. I'm considering it right now. The issue is I do not have access to the laptop. It is not actually my laptop - I don't think my friend has the expertise to remove the hard drives.
Edit: Going to try to temporarily wire the ac adapter to the dc port...I think this is easier since it is just 2 wires.
