Any Kind of Lag and Atheros WiFi Card

I'm posting this so, hopefully, users with this problem will find this themselves and we volunteers won't need to suggest this possible fix so often.

If you have any kind of lag, including audio dropouts, glitchy looking online video, jerky mouse movements, freezing browser . . . that sort of thing. AND you have the Atheros WiFi/BT combo card, and you have not updated your driver for it, then:

1. Download Atheros 9.2.1.432 and extract the contents to an empty folder.

2. Uninstall your current Atheros WiFi driver, either from Control Panel >> Programs and Features (if you have it there) or from the Device Manager >> Network Adapters then right click on the Atheros Wifi and Uninstall.

3. Restart your notebook

4. When your notebook is again in Windows, run Setup.exe from the folder you extracted the driver file to.

5. Follow the prompts then restart Windows again.

Hopefully your notebook will be a bit less glitchy. At the very least, you will have a less problematic WiFi driver. 😉

Atheros's site is not good. the people at Station-Drivers keeps better drivers for your atheros cards. that is where the driver he listed came from.

Atheros.cz isn't the real Atheros home site, is it? Seems like they want you to download the wrong thing. lol

Yes it is, which is why just google Station-Drivers. they keep them more up to date.

I've been using StationDrivers for at least 5 years. Way back from when I ran the old TweaksRUs site. StationDrivers is very reliable, I think they even virus scan everything.

I guess you're right, but it's weird that they made a jump in versions, like that, that seems like it would be in sequence with the 9.2.0.xxx drivers if not for the "1". Whatever . . . lol

There's another new Atheros WiFi driver - 9.2.1.459

Don't know what's different but if someone wants to try it let us know how well it works. 😄

Bump... and I'm gonna keep bumping this until Asus corp updates the darn Atheros WLAN adapter for all effected G-series notebooks on their support pages and wherever it needs to be for Asus Live Update (what a joke) to find it and send it to users!!!

The one I listed definitely works. I dumped my Atheros card after I tried that driver so I can't vouch for anything later. 😄

I just got my g53sw xn1 today and I love it but the wifi is really inconsistent. I will be getting 15mbps (should be getting 20 ish) than getting like 1mbps. I don't know how to install drivers because I am new to this kind of stuff.
