Any information on the G74SX-CST1?

Hello everybody,

I am looking for a new laptop for myself, and I have decided that I will buy something within the G74SX series. So far thats all I know. So far, the models I have been looking at have been the 3DE (not a fan of 3D, but I am a big fan of the rest of the specs!), the A1, and the XC1.

I recently came across the G74SX-CST1, and it is relatively cheap, but I can't find anywhere that gives full detailed specs on this machine. The store is trustworthy, but the price seems fishy.

Could anybody let me know some of the detailed specs of this model? Specifically I am looking for Screen Resolution, and HDD speed. I have a feeling that one or both of these was nerfed for this lower price. Also, I realize it has a Super-multi instead of a Blu-ray. Which... is ok with me I guess. I don't really intend on watching Blu-ray movies on my laptop, but if they start releasing games on Blu in the future I am screwed 😛

Thanks! 😄

I got that one because the price was so good. 1080p LED NON 3D backlit display and 7200 rpm drives. They arent in raid0 or anything though.

I dont see PC games getting released on blu-ray anytime soon, a good majority of games can still fit on a dual layer dvd and most people dont even have bluray drives on their computers. By the time PC games get released on bluray it will be time for a new computer anyways.

So... the only thing really taking away from this price is the Bluray drive? Weird!

Might be a dumb question... but would I be able to replace the Super-multi with the blu-ray drive from my G71G? Should I ever want to.

yeah. it should be a standard sata connection. you will need to open the cd drive before powering off, that way you can remove the faceplate and swap them.
