Advice about which SSD & RAM for my G750JX-mbs1-h

Hi guys, I am new and happy @asus with my new G750JX. I will appreciate your advice on this:

- I still can't decide about the best SSD solution (This version only has HDD 1TB @5400, not includes SSD).
- Only has 8 GB in RAM.

1.- Any advice or ideas about which SSD Brand & capacity would be the best ??? (I know this think will fly even more!)
2.- The same for RAM expansion please (Brand & amount recommended). Now I know it must be 1600 MHz and 1.35 V.

For size, 120GB is the minimum that you would want for a SSD. Windows 8.1 alone can take up to 15GB to 20GB. Which leaves you aproximately 100GB for your frequent applications and games. The Samsung 840 EVOs are some of the best SSDs on the market right now.

If you're looking for RAM, the G.Skill Ripjaws SO-DIMMs are pretty awesome.

RAM must be 1.35v, else you can seriously damage your laptop. Most of the laptop kits that run at 1.35v are easily identifiable as they have an L in the listing somewhere.

I second the 840 Evo recommendation. The RAM caching feature (RAPID) that you can use if you are a bit adventurous really makes these a nice steal for the price. I currently run a 120gb, but if I were to do it all over again I'd have at least a 240 in order be able to better utilize the SSD for virtual machines (it really speeds up the feel of them).

for SSD, go for the latest Intel SSD, I have an Intel SSD on my G750JX and it is so fast... Intel SSD is great for your laptop with intel CPU...

as big as you can afford. whatever ssd you get you will not be dissapointed. the speed will be so much faster than the hd.

are you sure you need more ram? there very few times that will be a limiting factor.
on the office pc, even with internet explorer, 3 cad programs (navisworks alone takes 3GB ram), excel and word, all running i 'only' use 7 GB.
on the laptop, windows 7 and e.g. Metro:Last Light runs at less than 3 GB.

put the ssd in the bay in the middle, thats hd0, and the 1TB in the left slot.

laptops like this should really come with an ssd as standard (mine actually did although i swapped it out). the 5400 harddisk really does not do it justice.
