Adding Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500 gb to G751 JT

I installed the 850 EVO to second bay and want to clone C drive to it using Macrium Reflect. When looking at C drive 6 different partions are shown. I unchecked the 5th one which is D drive for storage but do I clone the remaining 5 partitions of C drive shown on Reflect? One is recovery, one is system, one is restore, one is none and then primary. Thanks for any info. Haven't used reflect before.

rracres, if you want recovery F9 to work on the Evo drive you need to clone all but the 2nd mounted partition, and then resize the C partition on the destination to take up the extra space - keep the other partitions at their original sizes.

If you don't want to keep the recovery function on the Evo drive, you can also eliminate the other partitions to the right of the C partition and make the C partition take all the space.

I keep a bootable USB flash drive made using Asus Backtracker to restore the OS to new drives. That way I can use all the space on my drives, like this:

You can experiment with how you do this, I took a few exploratory adventures cloning, you can always try again 🙂

Don't forget to remove the original drive, and swap the new SSD into the original drives location. On the G751 you want the SSD to be in the Left Bay - the one with the PCIE connector as it is the SATA III interface. The Right Bay is the SATA II interface and is slower.

Let us know how it works out 🙂

Thanks hmscott. Worked like a charm. Think I might just save original HDD and put it somewhere safe in case of an emergency. New ones are cheap now. Have a great evening.

rracres, good idea, I recommend that as well. 🙂

Check out Raxco Perfectdisk optimization software, it makes a big difference in performance after Optimizing with SMARTPlacement, then setting to SSD Optimize

And be sure and go through the Samsung Magician optimizations - I would skip the RAPID ramcache, it makes for nice numbers, but real effect comes down to raw throughput optimization, RAPID masks improvements or defects.

Here is the performance I get with the Samsung 840 Pro 512GB on the G750JH, after 14TB of writes:
