First of all I dont use forums much, I did ask a similar question about this model earlier but it wasnt the same question and I need to asses my forum writing quality skills. Thank you for understanding and I wont try to hog the forum. ABout me: Avid gamer, originally from Romania, moved to United States, joined the US Army *didnt work out got out after a year and a half" had some money saved up and bought a ROG G750JM. I got it with a faulty screen sent it back and after a lot of waiting got it back working with a few other minor problems and a dead pixel. If we overlook all that it was an AMAZING LAPTOP I dont know how others dont get very playable frame rates with the 860m at ultra on all games.

Anyways long story short, returned it to AMAZON 8 months later because it was a refurbished model I got not new as advertised (Asus told me) so I have about 1500 to spend.

Found this on tigerdirect.com

Asus ROG G751JT TH71
intel i7
24gb ram (WHAAA)
gtx 970m
1tb
17inch
etc

Does ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE G751 TH71 MODEL?
I cant seem to find much about them and they seem a little sketchy
The ch71 model with 16gb ram is almost near impossible to find anywhere to buy and its the same price im just a little sketched about tiger direct. It says Full Hd 1920x1080p but no ips.

So my main question is buy this (G751jt-th71 for 1499 off tigerdirect) or not trust them and wait and get for the same price the
G751JT-CH71>?

Please guys answer quick I have done my homework tried looking in the forums theres barely anything about TH71 and G751 only the G55 or something like that. I need a 17inch with gtx970

Please help! LOVE YOU GUYS! GREETINGS FROM USA! VA PUP

Your only semi urgent upgrade down the road will be swapping to an SSD. Unless you are multitasking a lot 16GB is easily sufficient. 24GB is more than enough. And 32GB is only if you really need to feel good. To be honest, I did upgrade my G751 from 24GB to 32GB just because I found the exact same Hynix memory that comes in the G751 on sale ...but there is no seat of the pants difference.

The 7200 1TB will be fine to get you running. You will enjoy the 970M, the IPS panel and the CPU. Those are the items needed to have fun with the machine. And you are good there. Down the road you swing for the low cost SSD (a huge noticeable boost) and swap the HDD into storage duty into bay 2 and you will be rocking. Also, depending on timing, you may acutally by able to get a good deal on an M2 SSD for bay 1 for a good price. The M2 drive prices are dropping as more models are coming out. Although a low cost SATA III SSD will get you the boost quicker and cheaper, the M2 will be even faster if you can find a good deal on one.

Enjoy your new laptop. It will arrive with all the main goodies you need to have fun with it!

I did receive it! I was sooo scared. At first I thought the performance was really bad but Im starting to feel better about it. First of all I wanna say, yes, you guys were right, its IPS and I can see the difference as light for dark. Its beautiful and the keys that are red are beautiful too. For some reason been having some lag problems with bf4 and dying light, and what scared me is it wasnt like really low lag where I knew there was a problem, it was more like 30 or 26 fps on those games at high to ultra settings. Then I went to the rog website and got the new nvidia driver (instead of the newest off nvidia website which was older) and voila, after uninstall and restart it feels waaayyyy better at max settings but havent checked fps yet. ima get all the drivers and so. Everything seems well, i get a lot of fingerprints on it though. Also, what tips do you guys have on it?

I got

intel i7 4170
24gb ram
gtx970m
2tb (1tb hard drive) 1 tb external

Congrats on the new G751. The 24GB of RAM, IPS panel, and 970m should have you doing well. There isn't much I did with mine to get her ready for duty, but here are a few thoughts.

Uninstall crap you don't need. Zap all the trial ware. Some folks uninstall the Asus Gamer's First app, though mine doesn't seem to cause me any issues and I kept mine. I also make sure I check the system tray and only run what I need in there.

I added Stardock for the Win 7 feel. I hate the Win 8 tiles.

Update the audio driver (if it did not already come updated). The latest is a big sound improvement.

Some folks do not like the Geforce Experience, but for me I like it. It optimized some games for me and has them running and looking good.

Function F9 and disable the track pad when using another mouse.

Also, for best performance try to run with a Cat5 cable. Wi-Fi works fine for me, but for the best pings I hard wire when I can.
