A noob in need of answers. G751JY BIOS Update and C, D drive Partition Questions

So, I have the G751JY and I just updated to BIOS 210 from 209. However, I am curious about what updating the BIOS does because for the last 3 versions I see that it updates the EC firmware. What is EC? On the current version I see only the word firmware without saying anything about EC. Does that mean it updates the firmware in general? Plus, I see installed a hard drive disk (HDD)(118 GB)(Labeled "OS") because on the files I see "C/:Users......" The question is that I also see a (Labeled "Data 1") "D/:Users......" What is that? SSD maybe?(it's 465 GB) and I also see a (Labeled "Data 2")(it's 465 GB) "E/:Users....." No clue regarding what that is(if you add them all together it gives you 1TB). Apologies for being such a giant noob and thank you for your time.

Ok so you have an 256GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drivel. each are partitioned into SSD C: And 😧 and 2nd drive E: and F:
Asus seldom tells us what a BIOS Update will do. We usual don't update the BIOS unless we know there is a feature in the new BIOS that we need or want. There is a very real risk of bricking your notebook updating the BIOS so don't do it mindlessly.
If you don't like the way Asus has Partitioned your SSD and Hard Drive You can repartition after you learn how to do this Goggle is your friend.
for your SSD if you have no data on the D:\ partition you can delete the D:\ Partition it will become unused space. The you can expand your C"\ partition into that unused space. You can do the same with your hard drive. This can be accomplished in Disk Management, or after market partitioning tools. I use Mini Tool Partition Magic Do Not delete any partitons you do not understand Windows has created several partitions that it needs to boot and run you only should ajust C:, D:, E: and F: Read and learn about what you are doing working with partition with out understanding what you are doing and why can trash your windows OS. Back up everything before attempting any changes. I like Macrium Reflect Free Create Images Of you SSD not the partitions the complete SSD.

First of all I'd like to thank you for devoting some time to help me. Now, I just asked what the D/: and E/: are and from what you said I understood that apart from the HDD (C:/) the E:/ and D:/ are both SSDs. I do NOT want to change anything as I'm very happy with what I have, I was just curious of what they are. About the BIOS I'm updating it using WinFlash so I guess it should be pretty safe (correct me if I'm wrong) My HDD is not 1TB alone and my SSD is not 256GB,I said that it's 118GB(HDD) and if you do the math 118GB (HDD)+465GB(D:/)+465GB(E:/)=1TB(give or take). Note that I do not have F:/
Thanks very much for replying. Cheers m8 🙂

post us a picture of your disk management.

This is my G75VW computer disk Management as you can see I have 2 separate hard drives Drive 0 being my 256GB SSD OS C: Partition and other partition created by Windows. My disk 1 is a 1 Tb SSD Partitioned into 3 Partitions D:E: and F: You will see at the end of each un allocated space that is over provisioning It helps the drive keep up with maintaince. Lets see what you actually have. Search computer management there you will find disk management.

I uploaded it clicking where it says "Manage Attachments" hope you can see it.

ok what I see here is Disk 0 is a 128 GB SSD with C: partition the other partitions are windows created for booting and repairing windows.
Drive 1 is a 1 TB Hard drive probably a spinner with partitions D:\ and E:\
With only a 128 GB OS drive you should insure you install most of your software on you Disk 1 Hard drive So if you leave it as is you could install your software on D:\ and have your Data, Music, Picture, etc on E:\
What you actually do is up to you personal preference Other than the fact that if you put to much stuff on that 128 GB SSD it will fill up pretty quickly.
The main reason I asked you to post the result was so that your could see for your self exactly what you have for hard drives!!
You can also learn a lot more about your notebook by installing Hwinfo64 that will show you all your hard ware version # etc even your BIOS revision. The sensors part will show you your CPU and GPU loads temps and fan speeds

One other thing Asus Support Downloads there you will find all the latest drivers and also the owners manual in PDF format you can spend a little time reading that and learn even more about your notebook.

Thank you very much sir for giving me this information and I already have HwInfo64 and I love it because it has helped me out a lot. (as you can see here {pls note that the internet issue in the following thread is resolved but I'd like a second opinion about the temps} https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?77240-(Pls-help)Internet-problems-questions-about-temps it gave me a lot of information.
