The 1600.00 laptop purchase from hell continues. This is the story here:

Fig out the answer to my question about why the light was flashing on the HDD.

Today went to play nba 2k17 and found it was deleted along with ALL my steam games. Quickly noticed my games on the SSD were there still. Then after doing some research I realized my entire HDD isn't showing in the laptop. Tried some online solutions to the problem, couldn't do system restore since I had the computer back a week only and no places were created in that time. So I did a reset and same problem no HDD showing whatsoever.

So had no choice but to call support. Didn't take him long to tell me to RMA my laptop. I told him I just got this laptop back from RMA and they sent me back the same broken laptop. I'm leaving to teach English in Asia for 6 months Dec5 at 6am I tried explaining to him I don't have time to even do another RMA.

I asked the service guy if I could just go to a service center or store in person I will fly from Michigan to California if need be to trade in this lemon laptop and get a diff one. I don't want the same broken laptop back from RMA. I don't have time to wait around for them to send me back this laptop again. This thing has already had 2 replacement parts its pretty clear it wasn't built well from the get go. Anyways he put me on hold and said I have to send it in no other options.

Anyone have any suggestions on a trick to find my HDD? Any suggestions on ways to avoid another RMA? Right now I'm guessing I'm gonna have to send in the computer again and not be able to mess with it again till I get home in 6 months. Then when I get home I'll have 2 months to test it for the next problem that is gonna happen to it while the warranty is still in play.

It won't void the warranty by opening the hatch. Voiding it by taking the entire cover off would. You can do it yourself by spending the $$$ on a very good SSD for $300! I've already peeked, and I honestly believe doing so does not void the warranty. We could ask a member of staff of Asus to confirm this in the thread if you're that unsure. 🙂

Yeah If its as simple as me buying the SSD and sticking it in so I have a place to stick my games I'd be happy. I was under the impression its risky business that a professional needs to do. I'm pretty basic on my computer knowledge and never mess with hardware.

If anyone can anwser a couple questions for me I'd appreciate it:

1.Now the non working ram thats sitting in my laptop is this removeable by me? I'm guessing this is just adding extra weight now since it doesnt show up on my computer.

2. I'm new to SSDs on this computer was my first. Basically what I've gathered on SSDs is their like your standard HDD ram but it works alot faster. Like how my computer can operate now off the SSD. So really a new bought SSD would be superior to the ram it came with then?

3.Suggestions on a SSD? I dont need the biggest one I dont video edit at all. I do need one thats big enough to store 5ish high end video games at a time(75-100GB a game.

Really appreciate the replys guy. Actually excited today hearing I have a out on bringing my computer with me overseas.

Ive had My G752VY since they were released and no problems that I didn't cause myself by OCing sand just fiddling that I couldn't work out of. Hard drives fail, happens every day. Should that be a warranty issue, yes. Would I risk sending my machine in over a $40 archaic hdd, absolutely NOT! First thing I did was yank the el cheapo hdd and its in the box the laptop came in as is the stock SSD. They are both in the same state they were when I bought the machine. I replaced the M2 with 2x 512GB 950 pros in raid 0 and the SATA III bay is home to a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO.

Hi gamer734, sorry to hear about the problem and will send you a PM from cl-Albert if you want to discuss some options.

Yes, if you can safely work on the system, there is no problem to remove the bottom cover of the unit without automatically voiding the warranty for the U.S. offices at least, but you still need to be careful not to accidentally drop any screws into the unit, scratch the circuit board or cause any physical damage, etc.

Our ROG site has a G72 upgrade guide below if you haven't seen it and there are probably some videos by other customers on YouTube as well.

If you were thinking about trying to service the unit overseas though, make sure your unit includes global service (I can help you check if you send me a PM), but you may also want to check with the overseas office first if possible because they may not service some models or need more time to order parts especially when they don't sell similar models in their country, etc., so just wanted to make sure you watch out for this too.

Thanks.
