3month old asusrog g752 wouldnt boot this morning. from having plugged in overnight?

Hi had some really sad news this morning when i woke up and my not even 3month old 1579.00usd asus rog wouldnt boot. It was working great just 8 hours earlier. After some online trouble shooting on my own i called support and after some steps he figured leaving it plugged in overnight was the reason it wouldnt boot. So tomorrow im off to send it in and hopefully get a fixed computer back.

Now I've been a laptop owner of quite a few diff laptops over the last 12 years. I've never heard not to leave a laptop plugged in overnight because of a danger like this. I've heard to unplug it from time to time to keep the (not sure if true). Is this something i should be aware of? I've never had to send anything back to a manufacturer before pretty bummed its the by far most expensive computer ive ever had. Up until today everything was running great with it and was really enjoying gaming on it. I had the 970 in it bough it right before the new onces came out but still was really happy with everything till today.

Wow, that's bogus. No, you can leave a laptop plugged in. That's... I don't know why someone would say that. I would say hold the power button down for like 30 seconds and see if that clears it up. Just a thought. Normally, I'd say pull the battery out and let it sit overnight, but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore. You can absolutely leave it plugged in.

I can sympathize with you. My power supply with trip a breaker when I plug it in, but not the breaker of the circuit I'm plugging it into. Support wants me to mail them the entire laptop so that they can RMA the power supply. I love my new G752VS, but I'm really not loving Asus support. I really held a higher standard for support with a $2200 laptop, but so far it's worse than Dell's. Since shipping isn't free and I have to insure the package on my own, I'm looking at about $80 just to ship it to them with an unknown turn around time. That's more than half way to just buying a second power supply outright. 😕

Yes, Ive built pc's and owned laptops since the 90s, and so far my G752VY is the most unreliable machine i have ever owned. Till now my g752 sometimes boots with a black screen. The fix is to put it so sleep by pressing the power button, then waking it up again. There have been more issues with this laptop than with all my other pc's and laptops combined.








I know my next purchase will not be an asus, ever.

Sorry to hear you guys had problems with yours as well. I ordered my Asus Rog G752-DH72 new off newegg only on 8/8/16 for 1579.00. When i first got it sometimes id have some screen flickering and i downloaded the drivers and that was completely fixed. My really only gripe until yesterday when i woke up was i bought my laptop right before the 10xx GPUS came out. It was running everything i wanted to play amazing and even the cooling was great.

Yeah the internet suggested trying the battery trick. I tried taking the battery out but realized as soon as i took the back off the laptop the battery wasnt in plain view like other laptops i owned. For being a upgradeable gaming laptop it wasnt as noob friendly as one would expect.

As far as the customer support i imagine he was just saying what his computer told him. He said hes seen this before and you cant leave them plugged in over night. I'm glad i was correct in my read that this wasnt right as i told him ive had laptops for years and left them plugged in. Besides being wrong about that he was friendly enough outside of that.

Wow Buggsy sounds like youve really had a bad time with Asus. I'm gonna still give the company the benifit of the doubt for now. Me and my family have had other albeit much cheaper asus products work fine for years. Now if i have a rotten experience with this computer and their support I will change my mind on that.

I'm currently typing this on a old asus laptop that I daringly left plugged in over night fwiw! Thanks for the replys glad to hear im not the only one out there that has had a problem like this.

Have you tried Armesis reply, Your notebook is on Windows 10 the default in for shut down is Hybrid Sleep. Sometimes something goes wrong when asleep and all that needs to be done wake it up. Then go to power options Advanced and turn off Hybrid Sleep. You have a very fast SSD you don't need the sleep feature it was really created for computers with hard drives. No leaving your notebook plugged in is not a known issue, just the opposite is true. My G75 has been plugged in since 2012 with no issues because it was plugged in overnight.

I tried holding power button down for a min before releasing it multiple times since yesterday. The CS rep had me do the same thing. Not sure if im missing something in Armesis reply but he wrote "The fix is to put it to sleep by pressing the power button, then waking it up again" If thats it i couldnt even get lights to register on the laptop let alone any sign of turning on to be able to put to sleep. Sounds like maybe theirs some more solutions i could of tried before sending it in.

Anyways i just did what the CS guy said and sent the laptop in through fedex to get fixed. Also was directed to get a diff box to send it in by the CS guy which costed another 15bucks(hope this was correct). At this point from talking to u guys and some other people i feel pretty confident leaving the laptop plugged in wasnt the cause of this. My guess is i just got a lemon laptop. Hopefully its back soon and i dont have to send it in again!

The reason for the box is so that you don't lose your original box, If you sent with your original box they send it back in some other box they don't try to keep up with boxes.

My G752VY hasnt had any issues I didnt induce myself from monkeying around.
One thing I will tell you with absolute certainty, it has precisely squat to do with leaving it plugged in. Several Laptops in my house and they all are plugged in 99%+ of the time. They all work just fine.

The fix is not to put it to sleep. Holding the power button down does a reset. There are a few more tricks but a bit hard to try now that its already been shipped off.

I'm in the middle of the RMA process now. Fedex showed the computer was signed for at the service center Friday 10/25 at 10AM. Checked the online status on Tuesday and it said "The system can't find records of your inquiry! We recommend you contact your reseller or nearest ASUS Service Center".

Anyways called asus and the CS rep said they had rec my laptop. I then asked about getting overnight shipping back and the rep took care of me getting that set up and I paid for it later that night. Didnt hear anything back today and was getting nervous since the online status was saying the same as earlier and called again today. Was told today when i called CS again that asus had ordered some parts(he said it didnt say what parts) and rec them so its a matter of how long it takes them to fix and get back to me.

I think the service center needs to be more on point about communicating with me about whats going on with my computer. These things are the price of a cheap used car. All my info hasnt been from the service center whos fixing my computer just the online reps when i call. I understand things take time but 5 business days is enough time to update me. Not sure if the online status is just messed up currently, that working would of made the process better for me.

I guess there was something wrong with the computer though. Maybe a lemon like i guessed? It was not even 3 months old and should of been good to game with for along time with no problems. Hopefully ill get a explanation and be able to share it here.
